The Jewish Community of Estonia

The Council of the Jewish Community of Estonia consists of 17 people. Being a member of the Council is a position of honour and responsibility as the members of the Council are supposed to find compromise solutions, taking the interests of every member of the Community into consideration.

The term of office of Council members lasts for 4 years.

The members of the Jewish Community of Estonia meet often, socialize a lot and spend a considerable amount of time together. They can participate in any programmes and projects of the Community and are eligible for a variety of benefits.

Community Programmes Centre JCC:

The Community Programmes Centre JCC primarily aims to ensure the organisation of full-featured Jewish community life so that everyone can find something to do to their liking and fulfill their potential in the Jewish Community. The Center is an integrated structure consisting of several subdivisions: for pre-schoolchildren, for school-aged kids and teenagers (7 to 17) and for university students (18 to 35).

A separate block of programmes is dedicated to the organisation of such one-time events as conferences, festivals of the Jewish Calendar, culture-related events and educational seminars.

There is also a successfully operating and developing Young Family Club and the club “Gecher” for middle-age members of the Community.

The projects of the Community Programmes Centre are meant for Community members of all ages as well as for a variety of interests. You can take part in the projects by yourself, with your family or with a group of friends … We have hobby clubs within various programmes that are meant to preserve Jewish cultural values and to help people learn about different aspects of Judaism.

The Social Center of the Jewish Community of Estonia:

The Social Center of the Jewish Community of Estonia is there to provide assistance to the most vulnerable groups of the Jewish population of the country, – the retired, the disabled, single-parent families and children from low-income families, – so that they could have a dignified lifestyle in the complicated circumstances of our modern world. We also ensure that Jewish values are preserved. The people we support feel cared for, and the fact that the support comes from the Jewish Community in particular, which has become a large Jewish family for many, is especially important to them.

The Social Centre of the Jewish Community of Estonia provides support for Jewish people all over Estonia.
