Committee for Interreligious and Interconvictional Dialogue (CIRICD)

Origin

The Committee for Interreligious and Interconvictional Dialogue (CIRICD) was launched on June 10, 2021, as a new committee of the Conference of INGOs of the Council of Europe. The establishment of the CIRICD is a response to the growing need for interreligious and interconvictional dialogue and cooperation in Europe.

Aims

The CIRICD aims to promote interreligious and interconvictional dialogue and understanding across Europe. Specifically, their aims include fostering mutual respect and understanding between people of different religions and beliefs, promoting peace and social cohesion, supporting initiatives that promote interfaith and intercultural dialogue, advocating for policies and initiatives that promote diversity, respect, and understanding, and organizing conferences and events that bring together representatives of different religions and beliefs to discuss common issues and concerns. The committee also seeks to facilitate dialogue and cooperation between religious and non-religious organizations and individuals, promote interreligious and interconvictional dialogue in the political and social spheres, and encourage the exchange of information and best practices in the field of interreligious and interconvictional dialogue.

Actions

As a new committee, the Committee for Interreligious and Interconvictional Dialogue (CIRICD) is still in the process of developing its specific actions against antisemitism. However, the committee is committed to promoting interreligious and interconvictional dialogue and understanding, which includes addressing issues of prejudice and discrimination, such as antisemitism.
