ORT Belgium- Impact Through Education

One of the oldest and largest non-governmental educational and vocational training organizations in the world, ORT was established in 1880 in St. Petersburg with the aim of helping oppressed Jews and enabling them to develop technical skills that could ensure their survival and financial independence. Three ORT schools existed in Belgium from 1946 to 1966 to help Holocaust survivors with their social (re)integration. Many in the jewish community remember attending an ORT school after the war. Among other things the organization search for photos, diplomas, notebooks, notes, etc. to send them to the Jewish Museum of Belgium.
