The Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation Lower Saxony East

The Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation Lower Saxony East (Gesellschaft für Christlich-Jüdische Zusammenarbeit Niedersachsen Ost) is an organization based in Lower Saxony, Germany, that seeks to promote interfaith dialogue and understanding between Christians and Jews.

Origin

The Societies for Christian-Jewish Cooperation came into being in the Federal Republic of Germany after the liberation from the Nazi state of injustice. They are aware of the historical guilt and face up to the ongoing responsibility in view of the annihilation of Jewish life carried out in Germany and Europe by Germans and on behalf of Germany. Based on the biblical tradition, they follow the conviction that political and religious life needs an orientation that takes seriously the realization of the rights of all people to life and freedom, regardless of faith, origin or gender.

The organization was founded in 1951 and is part of the larger Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation in Germany. Its mission is to work towards the elimination of prejudice and discrimination towards Jews and to promote mutual respect and cooperation between Christians and Jews.

Initiatives

The Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation Lower Saxony East organizes various events and activities, such as lectures, discussions, and cultural events, to foster interfaith dialogue and understanding. The organization also engages in educational outreach, particularly to schools and universities, to promote tolerance and respect for diversity.
