Zachor Foundation for Social Remembrance

Zachor Foundation for Social Remembrance is a Budapest based educational non-profit organization. Our pedagogical and educational programmes help younger generations broaden their knowledge about the past in the context of the present. We strive to encourage young people to become open-minded citizens accepting each other.

Our educational programs highlight the importance of personal perspectives in teaching about topics like the Holocaust, antisemitism, discrimination, Jewish culture, etc. This approach combined with outcomes-based methodology and our focus on social-emotional learning help develop various competencies, critical thinking skills and empathy .

We offer a variety of programmes targeted towards educators and students and use methods that respond to the challenges of education in the 21st century. These programs include youth leadership programs, local history education, professional development for teachers, art programs, etc. We try to bring in digital tools and methods in all of our programs.

Since its establishment in 2007, Zachor Foundation is committed to raise the awareness of students, teachers and the general public to the traumatic social events of the 20th century and the impact of those events. We also want to highlight the consequences of discrimination, racism and prejudices and believe that our philosophy inspires people to become empathetic, active citizens capable of making responsible decisions.
